So I am crossing my fingers that I have finally got a working solution to the launcher problems I have been having (or that PWE fixed it on their end). The error deals with some problems with one of the STO server hosts, Cogent. Any fleet members getting a "patcher error" while trying to run the launcher should check out the PWE tech support forum posts. This problem appears to be spreading. The devs are trying to fix it but it takes some time. I started getting the problem 4 days ago 
and have been in contact with the tech support team since. Today it is working after I redownloaded the launcher for the 8th time. The PWE devs want people who have tried everything (restarts, etc.) who still have the problem to submit the results of a tracert, nettest, and your IP address to their support team via a support ticket. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up.
