The Exploration Cruiser Retrofit is a very underrated ship if used correctly it can be a devastating asset for fleet. Mine (the USS New York-D) looks just like the Enterprise-D from the Next Generation T.V. show.
This ship has 8 weapon slots, 4 fore and 4 aft, 4 engineering console slots, 3 Science console slots, and 2 Tactical console slots. For Bridge Officer Slots it holds a Lt. Tac, Commander Engy, a Lt. Commander Engy, an Ensign Engy, and a Lt. Sci.
The Basics
Deflector: [M.A.C.O. Graviton Deflector Array Mk XI]
Engines: [M.A.C.O. Impulse Engines Mk XI]
Shields: [M.A.C.O. Resilient Shield Array Mk XI]
Weapons
Fireweapons:
[Quantum Torpedo Launcher Mk XII [CrtD] [CrtH] [Borg]]
[Retrofit Forward Phaser Bank Mk XI [CrtH] [Dmg]] x 3
Aft Weapons:
[Quantum Torpedo Launcher Mk XII [CrtD] [CrtH] [Borg]]
[Retrofit Aft Phaser Bank Mk XI [CrtH] [Dmg]] x 3
Consoles
For Engineering Consoles I use:
[Console - Universal - Saucer Separation]
[Console - Engineering - Neutronium Alloy Mk XI]
[Console - Engineering - Ablative Hull Armor Mk XI]
[Console - Engineering - Tetraburnium Hull Armor Mk XI]
For Science Consoles I use:
[Console - Science - Field Generator Mk XI] x 2
[Console - Universal - Assimilated Module]
For Tactical Consoles I use:
[Console - Tactical - Phaser Relay Mk XII]
[Console - Tactical - Phaser Relay Mk XI]
Bridge Officers
Lt. Tactical: Tactical Team 1, Beam Fire at Will 2
Commander Engineering: Emergency Power to Weapons, Auxiliary Power to Structural Integrity 1, Directed Energy Modulation 2 and Extend Shields 3.
Lt. Commander Engineering: Emergency Power to Shields 1, Reverse Shield Polarity 1, Reverse Shield Polarity 2.
Ensign Engineering: Emergency Power to Engines
Lt. Science: Science Team 1, Hazard Emitters 2
Quick Note: I sometimes switch my Commander and Lt. Commander Engineering BOFFS and when I do that i lose Extend Shields 3 and gain Warp Plasma 2
Power Settings when set to Balance
Weapons: 71/50
Shields: 71/50
Engines: 63/50
Auxiliary: 64/50
Normally I use Power to Weapons and Power to Shields depending on the situation.
Basic Strategy
This ship is designed to broadside the enemy. Although you do want to line up my fore torpedo once i get the shields down. After the torpedo is shot i head back to broadsiding and continue alternating. If I am in a situation where I don't have to worry about taking damage I can drop the saucer to strengthen my attack power even more. That being said if I start attracting a bunch of enemies then I have the saucer dock back on my ship and set power to shields so I can start tanking. Also I do whatever i can to keep my shields up so I alternate between tac team and sci team. If i do sustain damage I use aux power to structural so I can heal it. If i sustain a lot of damage then I use hazard emitters and aux power to heal me back up. If I see my teammates taking a lot of damage then I make it my goal to help protect them using extend shields and the rest of my heals.
